Cycle Culture in Paintings
Cycle Culture Community (CCC), as the continuation of ‘cycle culture movement’ organized “Cycle Culture in Paintings” workshop on 30 September 2023 with an aim to support “National Bicycle Act & Activism” in Nepal.
Bicycle rally led by women cyclists was started from Patan Darbar Square via Basantapur, Thamel and KingsWay, endded in Nepal Tourism Board, where the workshop was held. Former Chancellors of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kiran Manandhar, Ragini Upadhya and K.K. Karmacharya along with three dozens artists were welcomed by the mass cyclists including renowned cyclists Ajay Pandit Chhetri, Usha Khanal and Suraj Rana. The cyclists were honored by the former Chancellors Kiran Mandandhar, Ragini Upadhyaya and K.K. Karmacharya. Likewise, women cyclists Laxmi Shrestha and Urmila Shakya- who voluntarily coached hundreds of women cyclists in Kathmandu and Lalitpur- were also honored. Prof. Abhi Subedi delivered the keynote speech.
Artists, cyclists and intellectuals inaugurated the art workshop collectively with their brushes stroking on a canvas. For the first time in the history, intellectuals, artists and cyclists came together and raised voice aesthetically to promote cycling culture in Nepal.
Most importantly, the program was organized with collective support from the people of all walks. There were no sponsors to the workshop. Nepal Tourism Board had provided the venue. The program was organised to bridge cycle community and support bicycle act & activism in Nepal.
