About
Cycle Culture Community (CCC) is an organization not distributing profit, formed by a group of cycle enthusiasts and activists in 2022 to bring revolutionary changes in Nepali cycle culture from grassroot to policy level. Before being officially registered as an organization, it was working as Cycle Culture Movement (CCM), a network of volunteery cyclists’ organization.
Cycle Culture Movement in Nepal has initiated Bicycle Act and Activism to actualize green bonds (GBs) to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and support the global net zero GHG emission target. In recent years Nepal, especially Kathmandu Valley, has witnessed massive pollution leading to poor air quality index and worsening biodiversity. The extensive use of fossil fuel, plus carelessness in green investment on climate-resilient infrastructure, heritage cities in Nepal like Kathmandu has ignored renewable energy and green mobility planning. However, recently, Nepal government in coordination with non-governmental organizations has initiated green bonds with the aim of accomplishing the global net zero target by reducing overall consumption, lowering transportation, and minimizing use of fossil fuels.
