Kavita is a Stage-3 breast cancer survivor and a passionate cyclist who discovered both physical and emotional healing through cycling. After losing her mother and sister to cancer in her own lap, she was diagnosed with Stage-3 breast cancer—an overwhelming moment that left her feeling hopeless.
During her period of depression, a friend encouraged her to try cycling. What began as a simple suggestion soon became a turning point in her life. Through cycling, she found renewed purpose, strength, and hope within hopelessness.
Today, Kavita is a prominent advocate for cancer awareness and women’s health. She frequently shares her story at public events and community rides, inspiring others who are facing similar battles. Cycling helped her overcome negative thoughts and regain psychological well-being.
Her journey reflects how resilience, community support, and the power of cycling can transform lives after cancer.
Nepal faces nearly 22,000 new cancer cases every year, yet many people still struggle with late diagnosis, limited treatment access, and emotional and financial challenges. This nationwide cycling expedition—organized by Cycle Culture Community in collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital—aims to spark awareness, inspire hope, and support cancer survivors across the country.
Led by cancer warriors Mr. Harka Lama and Ms. Kavita Chitrakar, the team will ride 1,800 km along the Mid-Hill Highway from Chiwabhanjyang, Panchthar to Jhulaghat, Baitadi, conducting awareness programs, outreach activities, and health camps along the way.
This campaign raises funds for early screening, cancer education, palliative care, and support for underprivileged patients. It is more than a cycling journey—it is a national call for compassion, resilience, and collective action in the fight against cancer.
